I was tagged by Shyla Colt, one of my favorite interracial romance authors. She written so many fantastic stories, but my favorite is Mistaken Identity. It speaks to the geek in me. She’s asked that I speak about my writing process, such that it is.
What are you working on currently?
I actually have several projects in the pipeline. Right now, the one that’s really sticking to mind is a rock star erotic romance. My heroine is a rather clumsy and unlucky lady who wins tickets to see her favorite rock band, and when she meets the lead guitarist, sparks fly.
How does your work differ from others of its genre?
I hope that I can break through the similarities I’m seeing in a lot of romance of late. I think that sometimes a trend sticks and authors (myself included) tend to get stuck in a rut. I have not read many erotic romance stories where the hero is Asian (if you know of some, PLEASE share the buy links!), so I’m writing this particular story because it’s one that I, personally, would want to read.
How does your writing process work?
I’m still feeling out my writing process, to be honest. I’m a pantser, but it’s so slow, that I’m actually writing an outline out of this particular story to see if it works better for me. I use Scrivener to do all of my writing…it helps me stay organized and I can keep all of my research and other tidbits right there in the same file.
I also NEVER throw anything out. If I write something and it doesn’t work for the current project, I cut it and save it in a file for possible future use. I’m a big fan of recycling in that way.
I hope you’ve found this little insight into my process interesting…I’m going to pass you on over to one of my favorite transgressive authors, Sessha Batto.
